Calluses and corns are areas of thickened, hardened skin that develop where the skin is exposed to repeated friction or pressure. Calluses are wider and flatter, and are most common on the heels, the balls of the feet and the sides of the toes. Corns are smaller and harder, often with a central core, and can be tender to press. They usually form on or between the toes. Ill-fitting shoes, high heels, flip-flops, going barefoot, running and long days of walking around Bangkok can all play a part, as can the shape of your feet.

Both are usually harmless, but they can become sore, crack, or make walking uncomfortable, and thick hard skin can be hard to manage safely at home.
At our Bangkok clinic, PrimeCare's clinical team examines the area first to confirm it is a callus or corn and not something else, such as a wart, and then gently removes the thickened skin.

Please tell us before your visit if you have diabetes, reduced feeling in your feet, poor circulation, or take blood-thinning medication. Foot skin needs extra care in these situations, and our team will advise whether treatment here is appropriate for you.

Calluses and corns can return if the friction or pressure that caused them continues, so we'll give you practical advice on footwear and foot care.
